EAST TAWAS - ITS HISTORY REMEMBERED
(2009)
  The lumbering firm of Smith, VanValkenberg & Co. is credited with founding East Tawas. Its beginning in Tawas Township resulted from an underhanded trick pulled by a Bay City land agent. East Tawas was the central core in founding of Baldwin Township, later a village and then city status. More than 300 photos, narration and modern video tell the story. (58 minutes)

SNAPSHOTS OF HISTORIC TAWAS CITY

  Tells the story in photos and narration of the founding of Tawas City in 1854, through today. Nearly 270 photos are shown, covering more than 150 years. An interesting feature are portraits of the various business owners of the 1950-60 era, shown above stores in the 500 block. A video of the new city hall and tour through town is included. THE NIFTY 50's
(2010)
  John Carroll of WIOS-WJKC narrates the first half of this program, featuring color slides by Neil Thornton of Silver Valley winter sports (remember?), the Western States fire, last scheduled D&M train and more. The second half recalls the Chapel Lake Indian Ceremonials, the village of Alabaster-USG, National Gypsum and AuSable River, with the Tawas City centennial in 1954, etc., all in color.

THE DAYS OF GASOLINE ALLEY
(2010)
  In the beginning, motoring was a real adventure and this program features color and b&w photos of early local cars (starting in 1910), dealers, two-track trails, even Henry Ford, with emphasis on Tawas-Iosco County. A second segment tells the history of harnessing the AuSable River with hydroelectric dams, starting in 1909, followed by a segment on the Huron National Forest centennial in 2009. (40 minutes)

LAW AND ORDER NORTH OF SAGINAW BAY
(2010)
  This program researches The Iosco Gazette and Tawas Herald for information about Iosco murders and trials at the old Iosco County Courthouse. Included is a chapter on the "soiled doves" at the Halfway House, the murder of a murderer, Brave Bob Johnson's epic duel with Desperado Jack Hayes, escapes from the jail, etc. It will include a photo "gallery" of Iosco sheriffs from 1862 to the present. This program is still in production and is expected to be completed by March 1. Pre-orders are now being accepted.
